Messaging & Calls

How Gadget Trade messaging, community conversations, voice calls and video calls work together.

Marketplace messaging

Use Messages to communicate with buyers, sellers and support. Keep important product, order and transaction details in the relevant Gadget Trade conversation so they remain tied to the correct context.

Community conversations

Community conversations are designed for marketplace discussion. Type @Nova to bring Nova into the community conversation when the feature is available. Use the community controls for permitted media and follow the Community Standards.

Voice and video calls

  1. 1Open an eligible seller or marketplace conversation.
  2. 2Choose the available voice or video call action.
  3. 3Allow microphone and camera access when prompted.
  4. 4Confirm the other participant and product context before discussing sensitive details.
  5. 5End the call when finished and keep important agreements in the written conversation.

Safety during messages and calls

Never request or share passwords, authentication codes, card PINs or full payment credentials through a message or call. For disputes, payments or account-sensitive actions, use the official Gadget Trade workflow or support channel.

Troubleshooting

If messages or calls do not update, check your connection and account session first. For calls, also check microphone/camera permissions and device notification permissions. If the problem persists, use official support with the relevant conversation or call context.

Message types and media

  • Text messages and replies for marketplace conversations.
  • Permitted photos, voice notes and other media where the conversation control provides them.
  • Reactions or interaction indicators where available.
  • Voice and video calls for eligible conversations.
  • Support conversations for account and transaction issues.

Conversation privacy

Keep sensitive account and payment credentials out of ordinary conversations. A seller or buyer can ask about a product without needing your password, OTP, PIN, CVV or private recovery information.

Frequently asked questions

Why can I message someone but not call them?+

Calling is an eligibility and permission-based feature. The conversation may not currently support calls, or microphone/camera permissions may not be available on the device.

What if a buyer asks me to move payment to another link?+

Treat payment redirection as a safety warning. Use the official Gadget Trade payment flow and verify the order record before sending or releasing anything.

Can I report a conversation?+

Use the reporting or support controls available from the relevant conversation. Preserve the message context and transaction reference so the issue can be investigated.
