Marketplace Commission

The current commission

Eligible Gadget Trade marketplace orders currently carry a 5% marketplace commission. The commission is reflected in the transaction record and seller earnings calculation for the relevant order.

How the calculation works

For an eligible order, Gadget Trade calculates the commission as 5% of the applicable order amount. The commission is recorded with the transaction and used consistently when seller proceeds and related transaction records are presented.

Example

For an eligible order of ₦100,000, the marketplace commission is ₦5,000. The resulting seller proceeds are ₦95,000 before any other applicable transaction adjustments.

For sellers

• The commission is reflected in the seller earnings calculation.
• The gross order amount and commission are kept distinct in transaction records.
• Seller earnings and payout information use the recorded transaction amounts.
• The marketplace handles the commission calculation as part of the order process; sellers do not need to make a separate commission payment.

For buyers

The marketplace commission is a seller-side transaction charge used when seller proceeds are calculated. Buyers should use the final amount shown by Gadget Trade checkout and should never send a separate commission payment directly to a seller.

Cancellations, refunds and reviews

If an order is cancelled, refunded or requires transaction review, the order record and the applicable Gadget Trade support process determine the final financial treatment. Any adjustment is handled through the relevant transaction record rather than through an informal payment request.

Where the information appears

Where applicable, seller earnings, transaction records and receipts can show the gross sale amount, marketplace commission and resulting seller proceeds. This gives sellers a clear view of how the transaction amount was reached.

Current policy

Gadget Trade’s current marketplace commission is 5% for eligible marketplace orders. Live transaction records and checkout information govern the amounts applicable to a specific order.
